Rybakina on the surface change at Indian Wells: "The court is not much faster, but the bounce is lower"
The Indian Wells Masters 1000 has changed its surface for the 2025 edition. It has switched from Plexicushion to Laykold, the surface used in Miami and the US Open.
It is supposed to speed up the game. Elena Rybakina was asked about these new conditions and her feelings.
She says: "I think the court is not much faster, but I would say the bounce is maybe a bit lower.
The last few days have been very windy, and there was also a lot of sun, so that also makes things a bit different, especially regarding the bounce.
Anyway, in my opinion, I think the court is still nice."
